The truth about this designer.

I always feel like you get to really know someone’s character when they answer questions. Not design questions, real life, fun, who the heck are you kind of questions. So let’s get into it with some fun, lighthearted questions so you know a little more about me.

Creative Vibes

What's your favorite design style? (Minimalist, retro, bold, artsy?)

I would have to say retro, I love nostalgic things.

Typography or color palettes—what's your love language?

Both, how can one choose!

Favorite color to design with (and one you secretly avoid)?

Favorite colors are British Racing Green and Indigo.

Favorite color to design with is green and purple.

I don’t think I avoid any colors, there is a place for every color!

What’s your dream brand or client to design for?

Anything creative. I love restaurants, Etsy sellers, bakers and bakeries, any client who loves what they do.

What’s your go-to font pairing right now?

A serif with a sans serif, never goes out of style.

What’s a trend you secretly (or not-so-secretly) love?

Watercolor logos are not my favorite thing. Unless you are a watercolor artist, then it’s entirely expected and ok. There was a trend a few years back and I feel like everyone hopped on board for the watercolor look. I always tell my clients you can use it somewhere in your brand, just not the main logo.

Do you sketch first or go straight to digital?

Sketch usually, sometimes if it is more precise shapes, I work with the computer first.

Digital or paper planner?

Paper 100%

Who is your favorite artist or artists that inspire you?

Frida Kahlo, big fan of her as a human being and her work. She was good for so long and no one noticed because Diego Rivera was standing in her light. Always loved her Vogue cover, that green and all the flowers. That photo hangs in my home office.

Cedric Smith, an incredibly talented artist in Savannah. His work is meaningful and he paints with these beautiful colors, than man knows how to dry an eye to his work.

Panhandle Slim who is based in Savannah as well, his work is in your face, colorful and recognizable. That guy doesn’t back down on things he believes in and I admire that kind of brave. You can find him on Instagram.

Mike Perry is another artist I admire. He currently lives in Jacksonville but is from Texas I believe and he loves the outdoors. He paints lots of marshes, trees, water, hydrangeas and birds that never get old. His use of sepia tones and vibrant color never tire the eye. You can find him on Instagram.
