From Adventure to Artistry: The Story Behind Let’s Go On a Lark
Every brand begins with a spark, a small idea that grows into something meaningful. For California-based Creative Director and Founder Lisa Gutierrez-Martinez, that spark came in the form of a single word: lark.
The Story Behind the Name
For Lisa, Lark captured everything she wanted her lifestyle business to embody. Adventure, nostalgia, and joy! “A lark is an adventure; the very essence of what I love,” she shared.
What started as a simple phrase evolved into a well styled food, wine and design platform. A pop-up communal dinner party where curious and adventurous people gather, share their passions, and connect over memorable experiences. Her goal was to create inclusive curated moments that gives everyone a seat at the table. A celebration of creativity, inspiration, and community.
Building a Life by Design
Before launching her business, Lisa found herself vacillating between careers in the corporate and creative worlds, constantly chasing something more personal and fulfilling. After becoming a mother, she decided it was time to create the life she’d always imagined, rooted in balance, creativity, and purpose.
“I wanted to create a legacy,” she said. “I wanted to live life now.”. A purposeful quest to be in the moment and enveloped in the things she loved.
That leap of faith became the foundation of Lark Artisan Market a brand that celebrates not just beautiful design, but the freedom that comes with building something on your own terms.
Finding Visual Alignment
Already a creative visionary herself, Lisa knew the value of clear storytelling and cohesive branding. She first discovered my work through Drinking with Chickens, a project she described as “playful and fun.” The tone and aesthetic resonated deeply with her own approach, and she decided to partner with Typebird Creative to help refine her visual identity.
Together, we built a brand that reflects her adventurous spirit and thoughtful sense of design while blending approachable elegance with an artisan touch.
Lessons from the Journey
When asked what tools have been most helpful in shaping her brand, Lisa points to Pinterest, magazines, imagery, and the library as endless sources of inspiration. “Images have always helped me define what I feel and want to communicate when building a concept,” she said.
Her biggest wish? That she had started sooner. “It’s action that leads to opportunity and overthinking holds us back.” Also adding Modern. Organic. Inspirational. Social Dining along with the handle “Let’s Go On A Lark ” to her social pages helps clarify the brand.
Defining Success
For Lisa, success isn’t measured in numbers or followers it’s about energy and connection. “Every single time we host an event, the energy of the moment fills my heart,” she said. “It nourishes it in a way I can’t even articulate. Seeing others inspired, that’s what keeps me chasing the dream.”
Looking Ahead
The future of Lark is as vibrant as its founder. Lisa vision is to expand into merchandising, retail, consulting, and product placement. She also with dreams of publishing a beautiful coffee book that captures the essence of her gathering’s equal parts creative, soulful and inspired.
At Typebird Creative, it’s always a joy to collaborate with passionate founders like Lisa. Clients who see brand design not as decoration, but as storytelling and important part of their marketing. Her journey is a reminder that when creativity meets courage, beautiful things take flight.
